Methodology of Studying Scripture:

§         It is important that each disciple read the Bible.

§         In choosing certain chapters, remember to first read them, so that you get familiar with the Word of God.

§         Look at the given chapters from the view point of prayer, discernment and discipleship.

§         In prayer look for the five principles, the graces given during the nine phases of prayer; focus on the plan of life of the individuals that you will meet. Often you will recognize lessons that the Lord teaches an individual or a group.

§         In discernment, look at the frame work and see if these are found in the Bible. You will also find instances where the Precautions of St. John of the Cross may be found.

§         In discipleship look at the graces during the nine day retreat or see other principles of discipleship found in the Bible.

§         You have gone through the formation of being disciples, so you must look to see how in a special way the Lord guides you to build your plan of life and how to live your own spirituality.

§         Try to avoid reading commentaries because they will tend to confuse you.

§         In sharing your findings limit each person to one point, so that all get a chance to share.

§         All must listen to the Holy Spirit as He brings to life the Word of God. Remember it is He who inspired these authors to write them in the first place.

§         Reading the Bible over and over again will allow the Word of God to transform your lives.

§         The more you become familiar with the Word of God, the more it will guide your steps and bring much fruitfulness in your lives.

§         Only jot the main points that come up during your sharing and send these to me; so that I may check if you are all on the right track.
